Funny Games

Hey, I..guess...

This is gonna take some getting used to. I'm not used to doing this sorta thing. xD I blame Cora for telling me to do it. And yes, I do everything my friends tell me to. If they jumped off a cliff, would I? Of course. If they didn't have a parachute. Someone'd have to save their asses. So I guess this is gonna be my little NanoWrimo ranting place; yes, that's where the title of this thing came from. I'll explain the plot in a bit, just hold tight. When Nanowrimo is over maybe I'll keep this going. Maybe I'll ditch it...maybe it won't even make it through NanoWrimo. Who knows, this isn't exactly a priority.

Funny Games...ah, where to start. No, it's not exactly an original title, but it'll get changed later. Maybe. If something better comes up. Better than something like 'The Orphanage' anyway, at least that one ties in. ...I wasn't kidding when I said I didn't know where to start. xD Christ..First off: Lets establish that none of the children hate Callum, though they're children, there's a strange mutual tolerance of him. A sort of 'well if they asked for it, he's giving it to them' thing. It'll make sense in the story, promise. :]

It's based around young, spoiled children. You know, the mansion-living king, living the good life with the butlers and all that stuff. We all know spoiled children, they're told 'no' to one thing and they have a fit, the 'I hate you', 'go die' and all that. Well in this case there's legend of a clown that hears your wish, and comes to grant it. "If you keep saying that, Callum will come and kill your father and I, and take you away to his castle." At least..that's what the parents threaten their kids with. It's like Santa Clause..only dressed in all black and ready to kill. But of course, there's always the kid that doesn't listen, and that decides he really does want the clown to come. So little Xander decides he's going to write a letter to this clown in hopes of getting him to come to his upcoming birthday party. And oh, does he.

Though, throughout the whole story, Xander's part is mildly remote. Sure, he plays a role, but the real drama centers around Callum Montelavo and the children he keeps. No, it's not quite a castle, but it's large enough to house the many children he's taken back with him. Sounds horrible you'd think, yes? No. In exchange for the children's taking care of the mansion, they get most everything they want. They eat as well as they ever had, get the toys they want, and never have a reason to leave. All of this ties in with Callum's experiences growing up, but that's to be explained in the story...

A girl, Christine, one of the oldest in said home has been there for several years and likes to believe she's close to Callum. At breaking point, she decides she's in love with him. Because she's only 14 and ever lived with her parents in a sheltered home, and Callum in the same position, she acts out what she believes a girlfriend to be. The older man, not a pedophile (despite the fact that he may appear to be), rejects her. This angers Christine and she begins to plan a way to earn Callum's love. The whole story revolves around betrayal from three sides, and the ending...well it could be happy or sad depending on who's side you've chosen. Interested? I'd hop so.

Geeze, I'm just itching to start writing these things...these next ten days aren't gonna go by fast enough...This year's gonna be fun. Funny, how last year, with no planning at all, I managed around 20k words. Hopefully I'll be able to get through it all this year. *laughs* I'm sure my only problem will be actually finishing the novel, rather than reaching the word limit...

Well that's my NanoWriMo bit. Maybe you'll hear more about my frustrations with it later. xD I'm sure the excitement won't last too long..once I get into it things are gonna go downhill fast, I just know it. But we're writers, we can all hope, right? I love it.
